Richard Foster in his military Civil War uniform.

Comments from Jeanette:  This uniform was Navy blue R391.15 GR 391015 M599 V1,3,4,5, & L884Y.  Hat & Coat and light blue trousers.  The coat featured 3 gold buttons on the sleeve and gold buttons on the face.  The cap had a square in front and buttons on each side.  The saber had a gold scribe insignia on the handle.   My father tried to identify this uniform at the Seattle Genealogy Library, and this description was pulled from plates #270 of the "Uniforms of Civil War", in water color at the library art dept.   His notes say say the uniform in which he is photographed is said to have been the uniform style worn by the 12th & the 100th Indiana Volunteer Infantry 1863-1864.  The listing for the 12th regiment was missing at the library  the whole 4th vol. This was as close as he was able to come to identifying what unit Richard belonged to.  We have not been able to find anything from the War Dept. being the right Richard Foster.

If you know anything about Richard Foster or this Civil War Uniform
that might assist us in our research please e-mail me.  Thanks!
